4 Ways to Store at Charter Marine

Whether you want turn-key end-of-season service or simply a secure place to park, we have an option that fits.

Most Popular
Indoor Storage
$40/ft *

* When bundled with our other services

The gold standard for protecting your investment. Climate-protected indoor storage at a discounted rate when bundled with two or more services like winterization, detailing, or maintenance. Measurement from prop or swim deck to tongue of trailer.

Best for: Owners who want a turn-key end-of-season experience — drop the boat off, pick it up in spring ready to launch.

Indoor Storage
$45/ft

Drop-off only – you’ve already winterized.

If your boat has been winterized elsewhere and you’re transporting it to our facility, the standard indoor rate is $45 per foot. Same secure, climate-protected indoor environment. Measurement from prop or swim deck to tongue, folded in.

Best for: Boat owners who handle their own winterization but want indoor protection.

Outdoor Storage
$250+

Secure outdoor lot.

Cost-effective seasonal storage on our secure, fenced outdoor lot. Best paired with shrink wrap for full weather protection.

Up to 20 ft
$250
20 – 30 ft
$300

Best for: Aluminum boats, fiberglass with proper covers, and budget-conscious storage.

Summer Trailer Storage
$225

Keep your driveway clear.

Don’t have room for your trailer when the boat is on the water all summer? Store it with us from the day you launch until you pull the boat at season’s end. Free up your driveway, garage, or yard.

Best for: Boat owners with limited home storage who keep their boat slipped or moored for the season.

Shrink Wrap
$28/ft

Professional weatherproof sealing.

Creates a tight, weatherproof seal that protects your boat from snow load, ice, rodents, moisture damage, and UV exposure. Each wrap is vented to prevent condensation and mildew. Available as a standalone service or bundled with storage.

Best for: Any boat stored outdoors, boats stored at home or on private property, and long-distance hauls where weather protection in transit matters.

The Stakes

Why Proper Boat Storage Matters

Minnesota winters are unforgiving on watercraft. Improper storage costs owners thousands every spring — the right storage solution prevents it.

What’s at Stake Every Winter

−25°F

Typical low temperatures in central MN. Any water left in your engine block will freeze, expand, and crack the housing.

$8K+

Average cost to repair or replace a cracked engine block from improper winterization.

1 night

A single hard freeze is all it takes. There is no second chance for water still in the system.

100%

Preventable with proper winterization and storage. That’s why we exist.

Indoor vs. Outdoor – Which is Right for You?

The right storage depends on your boat, your budget, and how much peace of mind you want.

Secure, Fenced Facility

Monitored access and a secured perimeter keep your boat safe through the off-season.

Battery Storage Option

We’ll disconnect and store your battery indoors to extend its life through winter.

Trailer-friendly Access

Wide drives, level surfaces, and a team that helps you back in if needed.

Spring Inspection

Indoor customers get a pre-release inspection so issues are caught before launch day.

Storage & Winterization – A Natural Pair

Storing your boat without proper winterization is one of the most expensive mistakes a Minnesota boat owner can make. A single freeze with water still in the engine block can crack it — a repair that costs more than years of storage. When you bundle winterization with indoor storage, you save $5 per foot and your boat is ready to launch the moment ice goes out.

Measuring Made Simple

How to Measure Your Boat for Storage

Storage pricing is per foot, measured from the furthest rear point (prop or swim deck) to the front of the trailer tongue, folded in.

This isn’t the same as advertised boat length. A “21-foot pontoon” often measures 25 to 26 feet on the trailer. Measuring correctly ensures an accurate quote.

Not sure? Bring the boat by and we’ll measure it for you, no commitment.

Common Questions

Boat Storage FAQs

Indoor space fills by early fall. We recommend booking by August or September to lock in your spot, especially if you want to bundle winterization. Outdoor and trailer storage have more flexibility but still book up by October.

Yes. Stop by during business hours and we’ll help you access your boat. Indoor customers often grab items from inside their cabin or storage compartments through the winter.

Absolutely. Pontoons are one of our most common storage clients. Indoor storage is especially recommended for pontoons because of furniture and canopy materials, which deteriorate faster in outdoor conditions.

Not required, but strongly recommended. A high-quality, properly fitted custom cover can substitute, but most outdoor customers choose shrink wrap for peace of mind — it’s tighter, more weatherproof, and prevents the cover-flapping that damages gel coats and rails.

Our indoor storage is climate-protected — not actively heated to room temperature, but kept well above freezing and fully out of the elements. This is the standard for winter boat storage and prevents all cold-weather damage to engines, hulls, and interiors.

No problem. Bundle winterization with your storage and we’ll handle it before putting your boat away. This is the most common bundle our customers choose, and it qualifies for the $5/ft discount on indoor storage.

Yes. Some owners store year-round, particularly those without home storage space. Ask about annual rates when requesting your quote.

Our facility is fenced with monitored access. Indoor boats are protected by the building; outdoor boats are within the secured lot. Insurance documentation is available on request.

Yes — in fact, full tanks are recommended for storage to prevent condensation in the fuel system. We use fuel stabilizer as part of winterization to keep gas fresh through the off-season.

The $40/ft rate is our bundled rate — when you combine indoor storage with two or more services (winterization, detailing, shrink wrap, maintenance, etc.), you save $5/ft. The $45/ft rate is for customers who’ve handled winterization elsewhere and are simply dropping the boat off for storage.

Yes. We can provide proof of secured storage to your insurance carrier on request. Some insurers offer winter storage discounts when boats are stored at a commercial facility versus on private property.
