ABOUT THE LAKE

The Biggest Lake in the Annandale Area

At 3,158 acres, Clearwater Lake is the largest lake in the Annandale area and one of the biggest in this part of central Minnesota. It actually straddles two counties, with most of the lake in Wright County and a portion extending into Stearns County. About 60 miles northwest of Minneapolis, it’s far enough from the metro to feel like a getaway but close enough to make for an easy day trip.

Big Water, Big Possibilities

With over 3,000 acres of surface area and a maximum depth of 73 feet, Clearwater Lake has room for just about anything. The open main basin is excellent for jet skis, water skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding. Quieter bays around the edges are perfect for anchoring up, swimming, or fishing. Several public access points and fishing piers around the lake mean you’re never far from a spot to put in or pull up.

Fishing on Clearwater Lake

Clearwater is a solid multi-species fishery. Walleye, northern pike, and largemouth bass are the headliners, with strong populations of black crappie, bluegill, perch, and rock bass rounding out a good day on the water. The lake’s size means there’s a lot of structure to work, including weed lines, drop-offs, and deeper holes that hold fish through the summer.

Beaches, Parks, and More

The shoreline is mixed: lakefront homes, public parks, and beach access. Warner Lake Beach on the south side offers swimming and a sandy bottom. Clearwater/Pleasant Regional Park sits between Clearwater Lake and neighboring Pleasant Lake, with hiking trails, picnic areas, and a campground. If your group wants to make a day of it both on and off the water, this lake has the infrastructure for it.
