What’s Coming Off the Trailer
Pontoons for cruising 11 miles of shoreline. Jet skis for the open middle. Watersports gear for whatever the kids talk you into.

Sugar Lake is perfect for slow pontoon cruising. Tuck into a quiet bay, anchor for swimming, or set up on the open water to throw s for muskies if you’re feeling brave.

1,000+ acres gives jet skis the room they need. Sugar’s open main basin is plenty for full-throttle runs, and the longer the shoreline, the more there is to explore between sprints.

Sugar’s clear water makes for great tubing and skiing visibility. Add tubes, wakeboards, water skis, or lily pads to your rental. We bring it all, including the air pump and tow rope.
Skip the Trailer, Start Casting
Sugar Lake renters tend to come for the fishing or for a long weekend at the cabin, and neither of those benefits from trailering a boat. We’ll meet you at Sugar Lake the morning of your rental with the boat fueled, inspected, and ready to push off. You start the day with your rod in your hand, not a backed-up boat ramp.
Sugar has two public accesses. Dock delivery is also an option if you’re staying lakeside. Let us know what works when you book.
Where the 50-Inch Muskies Live
Sugar Lake is a 1,015-acre lake in northern Wright County, named for the groves of sugar maple trees that line its shoreline. It’s been managed as a muskellunge lake since 1967, picked specifically because of its size and clear water. The first confirmed 50-inch muskie caught here came out in 2005, and the lake has been producing trophy fish ever since.
The Muskie Lake
Sugar is one of the most carefully managed muskie waters in this part of the state. Walleye are stocked annually too, at a rate roughly double the statewide recommendation, which is why the walleye population stays consistent year after year.
11 Miles of Shoreline Worth Cruising
The shoreline is mostly residential and well-developed, but it’s full of character. Sugar maple groves, older cabins, newer lake homes, and lots of small bays to tuck into. Eleven miles is a lot of shoreline for a 1,000+ acre lake, which means you can spend an entire day exploring without doubling back.
Where to Stop for Food or Supplies
Sugar Lake sits between Annandale to the south, Silver Creek to the east, and Maple Lake to the south. All three towns have places for breakfast, bait, lunch, or a beer after the lake. Annandale has the most options.
