Why Lake Sylvia Is One of Wright County’s Best
Two Lakes, One Trip
Lake Sylvia is actually two lakes, East Lake Sylvia and West Lake Sylvia. They are connected by a navigable channel and together making up roughly 1,524 acres of some of the deepest, clearest water in Wright County. Locals sometimes call the pair “Twin Lake,” and the area around it has been nicknamed the “Heart of the Lakes” for good reason. If you only get to rent on one lake near Annandale this summer, this is the one we’d pick.
Fishing on Lake Sylvia
Both lakes have excellent fish populations. Northern pike and largemouth bass are plentiful. Bluegill and crappie populations are also strong, with many over 6 to 8 inches.
What You’ll Actually Do Out There
Lake Sylvia’s depth and size make it great for almost anything: pontoon cruising, tubing and watersports in the open main basin, fishing the structure along the channel, swimming off the boat in the deeper sections where the water is clearest. The shoreline is mostly residential, with many quieter bays where you can drop anchor and let the kids swim.
