Three Ways to Spend a Day on Cedar Lake

Pontoons rule the cruisers, jet skis love the open water, and watersports gear stretches the day into something memorable.

Pontoon BOAT Rentals

Cedar’s main basin is wide enough for an all-day cruise, with quiet bays tucked along the 7-mile shoreline for lunch breaks and swim stops. Most Cedar Lake renters book pontoons.

Jet Ski Rentals

Deep water, clean water, plenty of room. Cedar is one of the better jet ski lakes in this corner of the county. Just remember the slow-no-wake rule within 300 feet of any shoreline.

Watersports ADD-ONS

Tubing and skiing feel especially good on water this clear. Add tubes, lily pads, wakeboards, or skis to any pontoon or jet ski rental. We bring everything, including the air pump.

ABOUT THE LAKE

Deep, Clear, and Quietly Famous

Cedar Lake sits in the so-called “Heart of the Lakes” between Annandale and Maple Lake. It’s not the biggest lake out here, but it might be the prettiest. Roughly 790 acres, mostly residential shoreline, and water clear enough that on calm days you can see the bottom in 10 feet of water. People who grew up in this part of Minnesota know about Cedar. People who didn’t are usually surprised by it.

One of the Deepest Lakes in Wright County

Cedar bottoms out around 108 feet, putting it among the deepest lakes in the area. The average depth is about 30 feet, which is unusually deep for a Wright County lake of this size. What that means in practice: cold, oxygenated water at depth, which keeps fish active even in mid-summer when shallower lakes get sluggish.

Why Cedar’s Fishing Reputation Sticks

Three things make Cedar a serious fishing lake. First, the depth. Second, the water clarity that lets healthy weed beds grow well off the shoreline. Third, the structure: drop-offs, points, and weed lines that hold bass, pike, and walleye predictably year after year. Panfish are the under-the-radar bonus. Bluegill and crappie populations on Cedar tend to run on the larger side compared to neighboring lakes.

Where to Eat, Where to Stop

Annandale sits six miles west of the lake, Maple Lake six miles east, and Silver Creek is just up the road. All three have spots for breakfast, bait, and a post-lake beer. Cedar itself is mostly homes and cabins, so grab supplies in town before you head out for the day.

Minnesota requires a Watercraft Operator’s Permit for anyone born after July 1, 1987 to operate a motorized boat. Jet skis have their own age and permit rules. We walk through everything at handoff.

Yes, when conditions allow. If you’re renting a cabin or staying at a friend’s lake place, share the address at booking and we’ll confirm we can dock the boat there. Otherwise, public access is the default meet-up.

Delivery fees to individual lakes are included in the checkout process during your online reservation.

Two things. First, water clarity. Cedar is consistently one of the clearest lakes in the area, which makes swimming and watersports feel especially clean. Second, depth. At 108 feet, Cedar holds fish actively all summer, which is why anglers in the know rate it as a top destination in Wright County.
